Firefighters, Paramedics Join Teamsters Local 330. Suburban Chicago Public Employees Eager for First Contract

All East Dundee and Countryside Fire Protection District part-time firefighters, paramedics and EMTs will soon be members of Teamsters Local 330 after overwhelmingly authorizing union representation.

With majority interest, the 22 workers in suburban Chicago join a Teamsters local already representing more than 800 public employees. Local 330 expects the Illinois Labor Relations Board to certify the workers’ petitions within one week, with the unit’s first contract negotiations to follow.

“Local 330 is extremely proud to welcome these hardworking firefighters, paramedics and EMTs into the Teamster family,” said Dominic Romanazzi, Local 330 President. “Their collective desire for representation allowed the workers to swiftly avoid any threat of an anti-union campaign.”

“It should come as no surprise that these public servants have the heart to stick together and do what’s right,” Romanazzi added. “That’s what Teamsters do.”

The public employees will work with Local 330 to secure new job security through the union grievance procedure, and to improve wages, benefits and working conditions.

Teamsters Local 330 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, which represents more than 100,000 hardworking men and women throughout Illinois and northwest Indiana.
